Assignment: Homelessness and poverty are a problem in Clarksville as it was in The Jungle. Devise a plan to mobilize community resources to help people meet their basic needs when they work full-time but cannot afford to live and type up the plan in a word processing program, such as Open Office or Microsoft Word. Then, create and distribute an advertisement to get people involved. Your advertisement can take the form of a brochure or a video commercial. You can use Scribus or Microsoft Word on a Mac and Microsoft Publisher on a PC if you want to make a brochure. Part of your grade will be determined by how much you are able to help the community.

Step 1 - Research: Use the scholarly databases that your school pays for, the Housing and Urban Development website, and other search engines to research current problems.

Step 2 - Brainstorm and Plan: How can you use this information to make a plan to solve a problem? Figure out how to solve one of the problems that you found and write your proposal.

Step 3- Outline: Use CMAP Tools to create a storyboard for your presentation.

Step 4 - Images: If you need images, try to find images that do are free. Try Pics4Learning. If that does not have what you need, you can pursue other options, like Google Images. Just be sure to always have citations for your pictures.

Step 5 - Create your Advertisement - The advertisement should take the form of a brochure or a video commercial. The only other limits on the advertisement are those that are placed on it by your creativity. Your advertisement should be motivating, eye-catching, and have persuasive information. Try to to overload on text because people have short attention spans for advertisements.
